Robert (Iris Bob) Van Liere, is the owner of Iris4U Iris Garden which came into existence in 1994 at its current location, 2700 W. Amherst Ave., Denver, Colorado 80236. Bob was born and raised in Holland Michigan from hardy Dutch stock. The Weller family, the maternal side of the family was in the Nursery business back in the Netherlands and continued this business after relocating to the United States. His Grandmother on father's side always had a passion for growing flowers which seems to have been passed on to Bob.
Iris4U Iris Garden is 2.5 acres growing primarily Tall Bearded Irises. They grow approximately 1000 named varieties of Tall Bearded Irises, listing about 600 for sale in their catalog. The gardens had about 3000 visitors this year.
Bob's background is Urban Horticulture. He has managed several Greenhouse and had his own Greenhouse operation before combining the culture of growing plants under glass and growing plants in an outdoor landscape setting into his primary business which pays the bills, U & I Enterprises which has been in operation for the past 28 years. This business allows Bob to pursue his passion of Hybridizing Tall Bearded Irises.
