AIS Affiliates

Region 22 consists of 13 local AIS affiliated clubs who conduct many iris related activities throughout the year. In spring, local clubs hold iris exhibitions to show the public the diverse beauty in the world of irises and to provide a fun and friendly competition for iris growers to show off their horticultural skills.

Many affiliates host judging schools instructed by prominent irisarians, so that AIS judges remain up-to-date in their training and others receive education needed to become iris judges. Several of our folks go to the judging schools just to learn what makes a really good iris so that they can be more competitive at shows.

Local clubs conduct various other activities, including planting and maintaining public display gardens, giving iris presentations to outside groups and getting together for pot luck dinners, picnics and programs.

Clubs fund their activities through public iris rhizome sales in the summer or fall.
